Syllabus

GENERAL OBJECTIVE:

The focus of the course is to analyze the role of the Health care assistent in the management of the Quality of Service provided to the patient and Patient Safety.

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING:
At the end of the course the student will be able to:
recognize events, quasi-events and sentinel events;
report with proper protocols events, quasi-events and sentinel events;
identify the appropriate approach to errors;
apply the main error analysis methodologies;
Classification of systemic errors;
describe the cycle of Quality.

APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
Identify potential sources of clinical risk inherent in clinical activity through the risk management tools provided in the course.

MAKING JUDGEMENTS
Identification of the best strategies to be activated for the identification of sources of clinical risk.
Identification of the best strategies to activate quality improvement processes.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Knowing how to appropriately express the contents concerning clinical risk management and quality processes learned in the course.

LEARNING SKILLS
At the end of the course, the student will have to demonstrate that they are able to apply the minimum knowledge, skills and competences provided for in this syllabus.

The concept of error;
The concept of clinical risk and clinical risk management;
Legal principles;
Proactive and reactive risk management protocols;
The processes of identification and evaluation of potential risks, how to intercept them and how to implement proper corrective actions
The concept of Quality of the Health System;
Laboratory applied on Clinical Risk.

Error prevention;
Reporting protocols for negative events and near miss;
Error analysis and management of improvement;
Corrective protocols of system errors.

Face-to-face theoretical lessons.
Role Playing.

Changes in the course delivery and in the organization of the laboratory sessions that become necessary in response to updates in the safety protocols related to the COVID19 emergency will be published on the website of the Department, of the Degree Program and of the course.
